Friendship with Artificial Intelligence
Science Fiction Prototyping
Key topics will include the cognitive and emotional aspects of human-AI interactions, ethical and philosophical considerations, as well as technological advancements that shape our perception of AI as a potential social entity. As part of the workshop, we will present the results of a Swiss study in which we applied immersive Science Fiction Prototyping to trigger a public discourse on social relationships with AI, using a VR based future scenario. The event will provide a space to share insights, exchange perspectives, and foster new research connections.
This interdisciplinary workshop invites researchers to explore the evolving dynamics of human-AI relationships. Key topics will include the cognitive and emotional aspects of human-AI interactions, ethical and philosophical considerations, and the technological advancements shaping our perception of AI as a potential social entity. As part of the program, we will present the results of a Swiss study that applied immersive Science Fiction Prototyping to trigger public discourse on future relationships with AI, using a VR-based scenario. This approach offers a unique perspective on how societies may integrate AI into their social fabric. The workshop aims to create a platform for sharing insights, exchanging perspectives, and fostering new research connections. We particularly welcome contributions from Japanese researchers to facilitate a comparative dialogue on cultural perspectives regarding AI and human relationships. The program will feature a combination of presentations, live demonstrations, and discussions. An interpreting service will be available to support multilingual communication. In addition to the formal sessions, participants will have the opportunity to network during an aperitif and explore the Swiss Pavilion. This unique setting offers further inspiration for imagining the future of human-AI coexistence.
