Youth Special Session on Sustainability

Swiss and Japanese students explore the mechanisms for advancing and solidifying a greener society.

The session will bring together Swiss and Japanese students to explore mechanisms for advancing and solidifying a greener society, one that supports truly sustainable growth while preserving the global environment. Participants will focus on daily practices, lifestyle choices, and innovations, drawing on their own experiences and reflecting on international trends.

The workshop aims to inspire concrete actions by young people. Participants are expected to commit to meaningful contributions that foster sustainability.

Engagement with youth both before and after the event will be crucial. The “1 Million Youth Actions Challenge” (1MYAC) will be used as a framework to empower and motivate students. 1MYAC, launched by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), mobilizes young people globally to take tangible actions in support of the SDGs. Ambassadors of the platform play a key role in inspiring and coordinating these efforts within their local communities.

The challenge encourages youth to take action on four SDGs. Participants from Japan can be integrated into the existing global structure of 1MYAC and engaged in concrete follow-up activities.
