The Swiss Startup Revolutionizing Gaming and more through Emotions
Is the future of gaming Swiss made? Ovomind is a trailblazing AI and Affective Computing startup headquartered in Switzerland. Its mission: to fuse biometric data with Generative AI and usher in the next generation of emotionally intelligent gaming.
At the recent Tokyo Game Show held in September 2025, Ovomind showcased how it unites its proprietary hardware, software, and AI technologies to empower developers to build games that feel alive — and truly personal.

The Ovomind Smartband continuously monitors players’ physiological responses, capturing real-time emotional data such as excitement, stress, and calmness by measuring signals like blood volume changes (PPG), heart rate, skin temperature, and galvanic skin response (GSR). This data is visualized through emotion heat-maps and integrated directly into gameplay systems, enabling developers to create more immersive, adaptive, and emotionally engaging experiences.

Ovomind’s innovation has already captured the attention of major media, including Nikkei, TV Tokyo, Fuji TV, BBC News, CNET, and NBC. The company’s DK1 developer kit is fully compatible with leading game engines such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot, and has been demonstrated through projects like Dead Shadows — an emotion-responsive horror experience led by former Assassin’s Creed and Dying Light director Marc Albinet. Today nine game titles are compatible and more are in development.
In addition, Ovomind announced the launch of the Ovomind Founder’s Program – Season 1, a global initiative designed to empower game studios and development teams. The program offers strategic support including funding, mentorship from veteran game industry leaders, direct introductions to publishers across Japan, the US, and Europe, and early integration of Ovomind DK1’s emotional gameplay technology.
“At Ovomind, we are defining the frontier of Affective AI,” says Yann Frachi, Founder and CEO. “For the first time, audiovisual context and human psychology converge within a vast latent space, making it possible to design experiences that truly feel human. This is not just innovation — it’s the foundation of a new standard, and Ovomind is leading it.”
Founded in 2019 in Tokyo, Ovomind is now headquartered in Switzerland, with active operations in Japan and a growing presence in the United States.
